Well, Zack has had a weekend full of birthday celebrations! I didn't want to spoil the post about his birthday yesterday by posting what happened yesterday afternoon, so here goes...
He was at a friend's house after lunch yesterday and they were going to meet some more of their friends for his birthday celebration dinner last night. He had been at his friend's house for about two hours when I got a phone call, "uh, mom...I'm okay, but my car is crashed!" WHAT??? You've got to be kidding me?!
So, I rushed over there, surveyed the damage and then we called the police. Apparently, someone hit his car (which was parked curbside in front of his friend's house) and they didn't stop or leave a note or anything. The boys were inside playing video games and never heard a crash or noise or anything. When they went outside to leave is when they noticed his car had been hit.
Interestingly enough, the neighbor's driveway across the street lined up right where someone could have hit Zack's car backing out of the driveway. There was no colored paint on Zack's car. There was a big white truck in the neighbor's driveway across the street. Hmmmm.
No neighbors admitted to seeing or hearing anything.
Nice police officer says, "don't mean to discourage you, ma'am, but we rarely catch hit and runs". Well, thank you very much Mr. Sunshine!
Hubby spent the day getting estimates and talking to the insurance company. $1800 worth of damage---smashing good news.

13 sweet friends had to say...:
That's a bummer, but at least it wasn't Zack's fault..and hopefully insurance will cover some...most...of it??? EEK!
Yeah, I was thankful it was an accident where he wasn't IN the car! Our deductible is $500, so I guess that's good that they'll cover most of it.
Still could think of lots of other things I want to spend $500 on right now! ;-)
Oh Gosh Tracey! So sorry for you and Zack! But, at least he was safely away from the actual crash. I'm not sure if you read Andrea at http://truesouthernheart.blogspot.com/
I love her blog. Anyway, her son was involved in an accident this weekend too. Scary.
What a way for Zack to celebrate his birthday!
Hugs,
Kat
BTW...Love your Bless Me Chick on your sidebar...very cute!
Hugs!

Hey Kat, I have visited her site occasionally in the past, but I'm bookmarking it this time!
That was scary the accident her son was in! The Lord was truly watching over him and his friend.
Thanks for the link!
Thankfully Zach wasn't in the car. Don't you just love people who hit and run! Cowards!
BTW, we live in Cumming, north of Atlanta.
So sorry. Isn't it a shame that someone would do that and not even try to leave their name or anything? People! Well, what goes around comes around. Glad he was safe and all is well, except maybe your pocketbook! It costs quite a bit to get these boys grown and on their own!
Aww, that's too bad about the car! That is really chicken for someone to do that. Poor Zack, at least it's not too bad.
And yes, all you have to do is email me if you see someting you like in my shop! The first page has all the info incluidng email address. Sorry you missed out on the things you wanted. I'm enjoying shopping, so will continue to add things here & there as I find them.

Oh I'm sorry and on his birthday!!
Susan
Well that wasn't very nice!! They should have given him the birthday wreck deal!! Especially since he wasn't in the vehicle at the time of the crash. :(
At least Zack wasn't injured!!
OH NO! Not a good way to have to spend your birthday. BUT as the others have said -- I am glad that he wasn't IN the car!
and me too - on the sweet little bless this chick thing! too cute!
hope you have a better afternoon today!
Before we moved I saw a lady hit the car across the street. She stopped down at the stop sign and attempted to wipe the scrape marks off her car with her shirt!!! My other neighbor was outside with me and he went down and got her license plate number while she was doing that. We reported it, because the owner of the car were gone for spring break. Just shows how much some people suck!
That is so disgusting that womeone would do that and not do anything about it. The same thing happened to our son a few months ago - in the parking lot at work!
