Being a mom is one of the hardest, but most rewarding jobs in the world. There is nothing that has given me more joy than to watch my son grow and mature. I think, as parents, we're never really prepared for what's around the corner. When I took that bundle of joy home 17 years ago, the hospital didn't give me a "how to" manual.It has continued to be one great adventure after another! I knew, as he was growing, I would have to tell him to not put Cheerios up his nose, or run with scissors, and quit giggling with that little girl during the Pledge of Allegiance, and no, we can't fill the bathtub with Jello Jigglers, and stop bouncing the ball in the house, and no, you cannot tie a rope to the back of the car and skateboard! The list could go on and on!
But never in a million years, did I ever think I was going to utter the words I said last night...
"You are NOT getting a monkey!"

Just think of all the blog material you would have if you'd just let him have his monkey. I mean, they are little and don't take up much space, and don't you have some chandelieers or something it could swing from?

I think almost every kid wants a monkey at some time in their life. I remember our daughter kept asking for one so we gave her a stuffed one for Christmas. Very funny post.

Okay, I just dropped by for a short visit and found myself laughing so hard I was crying.
What's really sad is that I can really relate with what you wrote. My kids are 14, 15 and 18. I haven't had to utter the line, "You are NOT getting a monkey!" But there's always tomorrow.
