A Revelation and a Genesis...in that order!

Last night hubby was at Symphony rehearsal and Zack was out with friends. I decided I would warm up some leftovers, grab my new Paula Deen It Ain't All About the Cooking book that my friend, Jackie, gave me and just enjoy my quiet dinner while reading. So, there I sat. Book in one hand, fork in the other. Life is good.

Except for one problem. Every time I leaned forward to take a bite, the words on the page got so blurry that I could. not. read. them! I thought, "WHAT in the WORLD?" Surely this is not happening! I kept doing it, and blinking, thinking that would help, and then got to laughing. I'm 40. Forty.

The Revelation: I'm old. My eyes are going.

Next thing I know, I'll keep repeating myself.

Next thing I know, I'll keep repeating myself.

Ahhhh, yes. The joys of aging. As hubby always says, "beats the alternative!"

Today we got some fantastic news! Preacher and Administrator asked to have breakfast with hubby this morning. They've asked him to be on staff at the church FULL time instead of part time at the church and full time at the school. This is a definite answer to prayer! A new beginning...and no more students! God is good. We just have to get out of His way and let Him work!

15 sweet friends had to say...:

I think the eye thing is one of the hardest things about aging for me. Even though I have always worn glasses...when I had to go to the bifocals...it drove me crazy. Still does. I just want to see clearly without having to shift my eyes or head.

Sounds as if this job is something you have been wanting to happen. Well, congrats! Anything that makes life easier and happier...right?

Wow Tracey...I know you LOVED that little vision revelation! :-) I don't have that problem yet...my issue is distance vision. I'm not looking forward to it though, I can tell you that!

GREAT NEWS about Gary! I am so glad this is finally happening for him again...and right at the end of a school year, etc. I am thrilled for him!

My husband & I both just got biforcals. They are terrible. It is nice to be able to read labels and things though :o)

Congratulations to your hubby on the new position. I'm new to your blog but sounds like something you've been waiting for. God is good....and yes it helps a bunch if we'll just get out of His way.

I have found a wonderful solution to this problem, quite by accident. My eyes are so near sighted that my favorite brand of contacts is not made powerful enough for my prescription. However, because they are not powerful enough to adequately correct that problem, I can still read printed words quite well. (In case you didn't know it - the more powerful the lens, the smaller print becomes.) The only time I notice that my contacts are not as powerful as they should be is when I'm driving at night or when I'm at a concert, etc. So I keep my "driving glasses" in my purse for such occasions. My contacts plus these glasses bring my vision to 20/20. I do keep a pair of drugstore reading glasses on hand for those rare occasions when I need them.

My Great Grandmother died almost 2 years ago, and before her funeral my dad and his brothers and sisters were looking at photos....they were literally passing around the reading glasses! It was just too funny! Then one of my cousins that I always thought to be alot younger than my dad started looking at the pics, and had to borrow their glasses to see them...I cracked up! I guess he wasn't so much younger after all!
