The smallest member

How can something so small hurt so bad? You would think all 98 pounds of me (okay, you can stop laughing--a girl can dream!), something so tiny, wouldn't have that much affect! Way back in April, I fell while meeting a repairman at one of my listings and cracked my wrist and broke my toe! The wrist is fine, it's the toe I'm still having trouble with.

Each time I think it's healed, something all of the sudden will feel like bubble wrap popping and then I'm hobbling like a little 'ol lady! I'm sure it doesn't help that I wear flip-flops or heels every day.

Ouch, ouch and triple ouch! Any advice for my little 'ol toe? I feel like such a baby, but it sure does hurt! Hmmmm...maybe I'll ask my chiropractor today--I already think of him as my general practitioner!

...and this little piggy cried waaa! waaa! waaa! all the way home!

I know just what you mean! I dropped a piece of corning ware on my foot a couple of years ago, and broke my toe...it's never been the same. I had the worst time with it healing and then afterwards for the longest time, too. A friend of mine told me this trick and I did it for about 6 months. Just wrap your broken toe and the next one together. You can use adhesive tape, but eventually I just used a band-aid. It helped the toe move with the others and lessened the pain. Maybe that will help.

Makes me crazy when something so minute can cause such a disruption in my life.

I sprained my pinky finger several months back and it still feels so weak. Those little guys (toes and fingers) really let you know their hurting!! I hope you will wear some pinky-toe friendly shoes. Shoes that will support the little guy, so he can heal fully!

But then again, I never wore any sort of device on my pinky finger, it has had to toughen up and just heal! Every now and then, little pinky just gets fired up and lets me know I need to slow down - stop that typing and let healing have its place. :)

I hope the pain goes away soon!

Not sure which toe you broke...but I broke my left pinkie toe last year while in Alaska...b/c I never really did what I was suppose to do from the beginning...I still have trouble with that LITTLE ITTY BITTY TOE from time to time...it does seem that the length of time in between each flair up is getting longer...it certainly barks at me very loudly when it doesn't think it's being treated properly....my suggestion...and you know you're gonna hate it...wear some very good low heel supportive shoes while on your feet alot. (and I know you're on your's a lot) and then at night if you've been on your toes/feet a lot...prop it up...ice it...and baby it for a few days...also, what Tonja suggested is a great rememdy...

Sorry...it's a bummer when we fall...I fell while in Colorado...in a floor mounted heater grate...thingy...I had taken the grate off to clean...forgot I did...was painting nearby...some delivery men showed up...rushed over to open the door...hopped right over that great the first time...after the delivery guys were back in loading up more furniture...they needed my signature...so I proceeded their way...only to fall smack dab foot first...hip second...into that whole...well...actually not the whole hip...cos' that would make for a very deep hole...however, I did hit the ole pear shaped bottom on the window sill...yes...gave me a nice little strawberry...some bruises, a cut, and some minor swelling...but nothing was worse than falling in front of the delivery men...I did just keep going though as they rushed over to help...just brushed my "paint pants" off...commented "I'm okay...really!"...and kept trucking...it was after they left that the moans and groans started!!

Make sure you give it some time...check with your doctor if it doesn't get better...soon! OK...listen to me...I'm a mother for goodness sakes...I know these things!

Wow, I can't believe it's still giving you trouble. Dick has a very swollen and sore second toe. He hurt it playing basketball and doesn't want to go to the doctor and be told to stay off it! He's been putting heat on it. I'll tell him Tonja's tape trick.

Hope your's heals soon.

Bless your heart. I remember when you posted about your fall. I never dreamed it was still bothering you.

I think Tonja's idea of wrapping it along with the one beside it is a good idea. George has a hurt finger and that's what we've been doing when he plays tennis or golf and it has really, really helped.

My friend, Jeanette, had her "hammer toe" fixed and it still gives her fits. The doctor told her she had to wear closed toed shoes to give it extra support. No flip flops! (I can hear you moaning and I don't blame you one bit.)

These are all just suggestions...a doctor's advice is needed.

Hugs!

The wrapping thing sounds like a very good idea. It seems like injuries to the toes and feet take a long time to heal. Feel better soon. Real estate can be dangerous.

My husband broke his toe on a Saturday and could not stand up to preach the next day. It took awhile for it to get completely healed.

Hi, Tracey, sorry about your toe. I think feet just get more sensitive as we get older. I know I have bunions on my feet after working retail for a mere 7 mos. Never had foot problems before that, but it about ruined me. I have to wear more comfortable shoes now & the heels can't be too high.

Get well soon, friend!
P.S. Did you ever figure out anything with those candlesticks? I'd love to see where you end up putting them.

Tracey~ No more thongs. I mean flip flops! They really are hard on your metacarpals.
While I am offering advice... No more laundry, housework, or standing over a hot stove. No driving carpool or working late. Plenty of rest and relaxation!

Okay Tracey, I'm ready to look at your other foot in some cute flip flops now, ha, ha!!!

I've heard a person couldn't walk without their big toe...amazing how the small things hold all the other stuff together!

HOpe you get it figured out soon and that the solution doesn't require wearing uncute shoes. :)
