My house is a wreck! I'm torn between two holidays...feeling like a fool, lovin' both of you, is breakin' all the rules...oh, sorry! Got a little carried away there!
Seriously...I love the Thanksgiving holiday! I love everything about it--the food preparation, the family gathering, the turkey plates, the fall colors, football, shopping, etc.! But I don't feel like it get's its rightful due around here!
You see, Labor Day weekend, I put away my "beach theme" and bring out all my fall decorations. Then, October 1st, I bring out the halloween decorations and then the turkey plates and turkey and pilgrim decorations November 1st. But now, the dilema! It's not even Thanksgiving yet and I'm feeling the pressure already of having my house decorated for Christmas. If we wait until we get back from Atlanta, then I'm waaaaay behind and am stuck decorating all the way up until the week before Christmas---too much stress!
So, this weekend our plan was to get 4 of the 5 trees up, along with some other indoor decorations. That way, we would only have the outside to do and the big tree in the living room when we return from Atlanta.
What's that saying about 'the best laid plans'...
Ahhhh, yes. I pulled something in my back and we only got 1 and a half trees up and now my house is a DI-SAS-TER and we're supposed to leave tomorrow for Atlanta.
This too shall pass.
7 sweet friends had to say...:
Tooooo funny! I'm feeling exactly the same way. Yesterday George and I brought in the box with our pre-lit silk tree and the plastic containers with all my stockings. I hate this in-between time. Wish I could twitch my nose or click my shoes together like Dorothy and have it all done.
Hugs!
Kat
Have a wonderful, safe and memory making Thanksgiving.
Here's what I've got to say..."Gary Griswold"! :-) Any comment? :-)
You're right...it will pass and all will be well. Sorry about your back...I think that's probably a sign to just relax and take it easy. Several years ago, I was not well for several weeks and I told the guys if they wanted a tree...they'd have to put it up. Well, they didn't...and I didn't...and Christmas came anyway!
It's all in who you compare yourself to, honey. Just compare yourself to me and you'll feel WAAAY ahead!! School and church programs always have to take first priority for me, and only after they are over do I get much normal Christmas stuff done. Lisa used to do my tree, but since she got married and moved to Florida in 1998, the tree just waits until I get around to it. But I do remember looking at all your pictures last Christmas when I first "found" you, and I'll be eager to see everything this year again, now that I "know" you so well!! Take care of your back and have a wonderful time in Atlanta.
We have this on going discussion this year. For the first time EVER we are considering not putting up ANY decorations... oh, did I say "we"... actually it is "HE". Not that he ever put any up anyway. But, we have moved and all our decorations are in a storage unit across town and somebody doesn't want to get them and somebody ELSE can't... Oh well, like everyone says, Christmas comes and goes with or without decorations...
Okay, I'm looking at the pictures of your house and thinking to myself...hm...THAT'S a disaster? I think my house must be a total loss and I might as well light a match and walk away! LOL!
Relax, enjoy your trip and believe me when I tell you that your house is gorgeous and if you don't participate in BooMama's Christmas Tour of Homes, I'll be quite disappointed!
I did the same thing this weekend...welll sort of... minues the FIVE trees and pulled back! I put my fall decor up about the same time as you and quite frankly I got tired of it. I never get tired of the Christmas stuff. It always seems to come down too soon. Hope your Thanksgiving was great.
