Caught sinning on the way to church with John Tesh

About a week or two ago, my hubby was talking about how fast I drive, especially on this one area called the Northern Boulevard, which is a road we take to connect us up with the Interstate to get to church. It tends to be a heavily patroled area and my hubby made the remark that if I didn't slow down, one of these days, I was going to get a ticket. To which I replied, "No way! I'm very careful and I am always on the look out!"

Well, as the saying goes, "pride goeth before a fall."

On Sunday mornings, John Tesh does his radio show and it's just full of interesting little tid-bits of information, that frankly, I'm usually wondering how I've made it almost 41 years without knowing! This morning I was in a bit of a rush (my hubby would say like every Sunday morning) and I was putting on lipstick and just entranced in some information Tesh was dishing out when I rounded the corner and my heart sank! There sat Mr. Police Officer who quickly flipped his lights on as I was already getting over into the emergency lane--knowing I had been caught.

Mr. Buff comes up to my window and wants to know where I'm going in such a hurry as he politely asks for my DL and Insurance card. To which I sheepishly replied, "well, CHURCH if you can believe that?!?!"

After a few minutes I was once again on my way to church, with ticket in hand... 72 in a 55.

When hubby came down off the platform, I whispered, "how much do you love me?" In answer to his puzzled look, I flashed him the ticket.

His response? ..."I told you so!"

26 sweet friends had to say...:

Did you get that feeling of your stomach dropping to your feet? Not that I've ever been stopped by a cop (tee hee)!!! Well, at least not today. Seriously, I'm sorry you got a ticket. It's a horrible feeling. I actually think the feeling is worse than the ticket.

Oops! Maybe, if you explain to a judge that you were on your way to church, he'll knock it down a little.

I got caught back in December 2004...54 in a 35...and it was $140...UGH! He said, "Have you had a moving violation in the last 3 years Ma'am? My reply, "Uh, no...the last ticket I has was in the 80's!" Then realized me was probably BORN in the 80's! :-)

Sorry you got a ticket. Let us know how much it costs there..I'm curious!

The only time I got stopped for speeding (which is a miracle in itself) I told the officer, "Well, you have the privilege of being the first one to stop me for speeding in 21 years of driving." He said, "Well, I'll just give you a warning." So I'm keeping that little statement in mind if I should ever need it again. Except, by now I could say "in 39 years of driving." That should move his heart even more, don't you think?!!

Sorry about your ticket. Your post title is hilarious, as I see your hubby noticed!

Oh, my, Tracey! Believe me -- that will be more than ".88 well spent"! In fact, you could probably fly to Baltimore and back on AirTran for less! So sorry!

Love you, Mom

LOL!!!

Okay...it's not funny at all. Isn't that the most sickening feeling in your stomach when you realize you're about to get pulled over? Or is it just me?

Bless you girl! I'm the same way on too many occasions. I get all caught up in praise! lol

That's the worst feeling, isn't it? I've only had one speeding ticket...way back in Iowa driving my mom's car (she was along) to the hospital to see my nephew when he was born.

Melody said...

"Let he that is without sin cast the first stone..." and all that, but seriously, one of the BEST feelings in the world is when you slow down to pull over and the officer drives past you 'cause he was after someone else!!! LOL!

And seriously, I think maybe John Tesh should pay for half since he was distracting you and all!

Oh good grief. This has got me to thinking about my episode. I'm mad just thinking about the ticket I got a few months back. Remember how I ranted and raved?! It gives you a sick feeling in your tummy for sure. So sorry. Wouldn't it be nice if we didn't have to report it to our hubbies. I just hate when they say "I told you so".

Hugs!
Kat (hope you got my last e-mail?)

The last time I got pulled over it kind of cured me from speeding! I was doing 85 in a 65... The officer let me off the hook after I told him how I was distracted because I was singing Praises! He must have been a believer, he just smiled and gave me a ticket for not having my address changed on my license which thankfully didn't take points off my license. I just had to change it! I don't know, sometimes I still catch my self going too fast when I'm singing praises in the car and have to hit the brakes when I realize! My hubby tells me to use cruise control but I always forget! Hope your ticket isn't to expensive!!
Blessings!

Oooopss...sounds as though you have the same disease my sweet hubbin has...it's called "lead foot"...lol...I say this...b/c ironically he just told me last night...I believe these were his exact words right before nodding off to sleep..."oh! did I tell you I got a ticket the other day...yea...I was going 53 in a 40"...how do you respond to something like that...I would have been so quilt ridden...it would have been the first thing out of my mouth when I saw him...he of course just nonchantly mentions it b/f falling asleep days after it happened....it's surprising this is the first in a very long time...he's been traveling so much lately...I guess he's just used to air "speed" instead of land speed!

Good Luck...I think you can get this off your record with deferred adjudication?? Don't ask me how I know! Pay the ticket, plead guilty, and then if you stay "clean" for 3 months...it goes off your record...well, it does here in Texas anyway!!

Blessings...
Teresa

One more thing...how in the world did you get this picture...with the speed at 72 mph...is this Mr. Muscles or is this a picture you downloaded...I think it would be funny if it really is the policeman who awarded you such a lovely gift...after the ticket...did you say..."oh and could you please pose with your nifty radar detector...so I can post this on my blog?"...and if you really did this and he complied...what a good sport...and kudos to you for thinking like the true blogger thinks!!!

Oh, Tracey, I'm sorry you got caught. Funny thing, I was listening to John Tesh going to church yesterday also. His program just comes on on Sunday mornings here. Where does he find out all that information? He tells me things I didn't even know I wanted to know! It is a sinking feeling, though, isn't it? Like we are still children and have been called to the principal's office......not that I ever was, you understand. :)

I'm sorry you got the ticket! I always bragged that I am 45 years old and have never had a ticket until...last year! Major Bummer!!!

Tickets! Yuck!
I have to ask if this is really a picture of the cop who stopped you? It's not right? Because I wouldn't have the calm or the humor while getting a ticket to get out and take a picture of the radar that is shouting my speeding....=)

So did you actually ask the officer to pose for that pic for your blog????????????????? That cracks me up! Even if you didn't ask him!
haha

okay, y'all, I have to put this mystery to rest---it's through the magic of PHOTOSHOP that I found a picture of an officer and airbrushed out the speed that was on the gun and put my speed.

Do y'all really think I'm THAT crazy to ask him to pose for a picture??? I was LATE FOR CHURCH already!!!

LOL, Tracey! I usually say that to my hubby. He can speed like crazy some days. Sorry he didn't let you off.

I'm guilty sometimes too, but try to keep it moderate.
