I would not, could not!

After a full day of (still) working on Band Booster things, I decided I would make Pepper Steak over rice for dinner. Last week, a friend gave me some vegetables from her garden that included two big squash. I thought I would saute' some beautiful yellow squash to go along with our colorful pepper steak that included red and green peppers. It smelled wonderful!

When we sat down to dinner, neither one of my "boys" would even try the squash!!!

You do not like them,
So you say,
Try them! Try them!
And you may.
Try them and you may, I say.

With heads turned away and lips clenched tight,
they both refused to even take a bite!
(Now that was an unintentional rhyme that made me laugh out loud!)

Oh well...I ate it and it was delicious! I think I've just come to the realization that finicky little boys grow up to be finicky old men!

6 sweet friends had to say...:

I've only started eating squash in the last couple of years myself, so I really can't say anything...BUT, your rhyme was cute, I must admit!

Oh, just seeing the photo from The Cat In The Hat made me smile. I loved reading those books to my children and now enjoy reading them to my grandchildren. I KNOW what you mean about picky eaters. I'm married to one...big time. Your dinner sounds delish!

You're a poet, and didn't know it :-)

Hugs!

I'm married to a picky eater over here myself. I can't say too much though,..I don't like my food touching each other,..I know, a little OCD!

The rhyme was just too cute! Carter loves for me to read Hop on Pop to him and I'd just about rather read the dictionary than read that one! Green eggs and ham I love, the Cat in the hat too!...but not Hop on Pop! Ugh!

Tracey, thanks for the info you left on my blog. That is interesting!

BTW, I have picky eaters in my house too ~ they want all "hot and spicy" food. UGH!

Well, I don't have any picky eaters, although I am a very recovered picky eater myself.

My introduction to squash was when Lisa was living at home after college. She would cut it in chucks, drizzle it with oil and seasonings, then roast or broil it in the oven. Very delicous.
