Definitely Not Prime Time

Did you know there's nothing good on t.v. at 4:00 a.m.?! I just don't know how I've lived 40 years without the pill that relieves crankiness; or that wonderful iron that presses so beautifully and steams your clothes and drapes in half the time all while you cook an entire chicken at the press of a button! And to think of the treasures I'm missing out on while at the beach! Crazy me usually just lays there and tries to sun myself to a golden brown, but I could be using a metal detector to search for buried treasure and lose weight all at the same time! And all the money I've wasted on doctors over the years when I could have been self-diagnosing and self-treating with that wonderful cure-all book. And my poor back, luggin' my Eureka vacuum around instead of carrying that feather lite one. And the horrors thinking of what's in the air I breathe! I'm calling right now to get on the waiting list for my motorized wheelchair. A girl can never plan too far ahead! Now here's something I can use, dial-a-number sleep system...

...seems I've been calling the wrong number lately!

Ahhh, yes, miles to go before I sleep.

You wouldn't believe all the things I've bought through the years because of those infomercials. And how many things I've either sold at garage sales or given away!

Ah, the memory of my Ginzu knives!

How about that incredible quality set of kitchen knifes that can cut anything from your hardwood table to a carrot and self-sharpens!? :)

I have been tossing/turning until the wee hours lately!! Why don't they replay KNOTS LANDING!!!? :)

I've been trying to get off of this late night drought but cannot fall asleep!! With 2 little ones this is a nightmare! I am praying for sleep to return to me. Until then, I just watch Lifetime - Will&Grace, Frasier, then the Golden Girls. By then I am getting drowsy. Some nights I go with a little Murder She Wrote! haha I know too much about tv after 10pm in my book! :)

I've even resorted to putting our local cable channel on which runs the community calendar to a background of easy listening music, hoping that would bore me to sleep!! And of course there are always the get rich quick or get healthy and strong and beautiful magic potions on the Inspiration Network at that hour of the morning!!

My husband and I were just laughing the other night (we can laugh now) about my insomnia while I was pregnant. Acutually, it was nausea that woke me, religiously, ever morning at 3am. The only thing that sounded even remotely appealing was bananas. So I'd lay on the sofa, watch TV and take forever to eat just one banana. While we were having our chuckle, he asked me what I watched and I said, "anything not involving food". The even semi-good shows don't start coming on until 6am.

Sounds as if you need a sleeping pill.:) We have a DVR box through our cable company, and it lets you record and hold shows that you want to watch later...kinda like a VCR, but not on a tape, it keeps it in the box...I guess or keeps it somewhere up in space...all I know is I can go back and watch these when I want to. Right now, I have a weeks worth of Joyce Meyer, and 2 Lifetime movies, 3 crafting shows. It sure beats vacumn cleaner and exercise machine commercials.

Tonja, we have TiVo (same thing as your DVR box), but I didn't even think of that at 4:00 a.m.! I was too busy flipping channels on the tv in the office!

LOL!! I, too, have been up at that odd hour (sometimes even by choice!...kind of...for work...) and have witnessed the same lack-of-anything-good that you have!

My poor mother has insomnia, and knows some of the Home Shopping people by name. She has bought many *interesting* items at that same odd hour...

Thank you for your sweet note...it made my day! :)

Tracey

This was too funny...and sadly, too true.

I'm not a TV watcher anyway, so I just come to my computer and blog away or read blogs until I get sleepy again. Works for me.

Cute post!

Hugs!

Being a Christian I am sure you have experienced the same thing. My husband and I have a sure way of going to sleep when we have insomnia. We pray for our family members and friends. We are asleep in no time.

We have lots to pray about ~ I mean lists of things. We never get very far down the list in our mind before we dose off. If I ever complain that I couldn't sleep last night, he always asks, "Did you pray?" When I say, "No" then he says, "Well?"

Ah, yes...the can't sleep syndrome...I know it well. I used to sleep like a baby every night, but now I wake up very early & sometimes can't go back to sleep. I hate middle-age & hormones changing! I usually don't get up, but now I really won't try to watch TV.

Oh my goodness!! You know what's even worse? When you actually "order" the product. I now own two "choppers" I will NEVER use!! Man, this middle age, hormone induced insomnia is for the birds!!

Me again...I posted as a response to your post to me...THEN I read your blog...omgoodnusssss...you should get on-line w/me at 4:00 a.m....I feel your pain...this last week has been a real booger for me...Monday night...no sleep until the sun started peeking it's way through the night skies...REALLY why did I I even lay back down!!...then last night almost as bad...however, I was lightly snoozing around 4:30 ish...while the tv played in the background (hubbin is out of town..so this could be a contributing factor)...telling me how much money "Joe Somebody" could fetch me if I had ever been injured in a car wreck! Geez...EVER...that seems like a long time...but I"m telling ya... these folks are raking in the dough according to 20 or so commericials I saw on TV at that time...Your blog cracked me up...TV really is a waste land...especially at that hour of the morning...here's praying we both get some shut-eye tonight....if not...feel free to "blog" me...I'll respond if I'm awake!

Blessings...
