Food for thought...

Sorrow is better than laughter, for sadness has a refining influence on us. Ecclesiastes 7:3

Saw the following on a blog I was browsing this morning...

God never uses anybody to a large degree, until after He breaks that one all to pieces. Joseph had more sorrow than all the other sons of Jacob, and it led him out into a ministry of bread for all nations. For this reason, the Holy Spirit said of him, “Joseph is a fruitful bough…by a well, whose branches run over the wall” (Gen. 49:22). It takes sorrow to widen the soul.

That is SO true, and sometimes I just hate it.

I love your post but I agree with Jean. It's no fun to be crushed.

Just taught a Bible study tonight about the power of our "yes" and "no". God uses our every day obediences in order to build our trust of Him and His trust of us to be used in more critical circumstances. Critical doesn't always mean "big". Not everyone is called to deliver a nation, suffer persecution, or die on a cross. Yet each of these huge things began with a very small "yes" or "no". So true what you said about sometimes it requiring our being dashed to pieces. I don't know about you, but if I'm going to be torn apart but then know God more because of it, it isn't enough to keep that lesson to myself...I want you to know it too! :)) Thanks for your insights....
